A RARE AND GOOD .56 FLINTLOCK WILLIAM IV PATTERN 1824/32 SEA SERVICE PISTOL, CIRCA 1830, no visible serial number,
9in. barrel stamped with Government proofs at breech, swivel rammer hinged at muzzle, borderline engraved lock engraved with the King's cypher to the centre of a Crown over 'W.R.', swan-neck cock, regulation brass mounted full walnut stock, the wrist bearing the broad arrow 'B.O.' Government ownership stamp, and various other inspection stamps, typical belt hook on the left-side, possibly unissued

Provenance: This pattern is the last Sea Service flintlock pistol to be made, basically a variation of New Land Pattern cavalry pistol, its main differences being the calibre which is .56 compared to the .65 of the cavalry pistol and the fitting of a belt hook, King William IV reigned 1830 to 1837 consequently guns bearing his cypher are quite rare
